Officially the First Narrows Bridge, for the channel it crosses, the Lions' Gate leads northward from Vancouver to Whistler and beyond, while the water circles around the metropolis of Vancouver, allowing a historic shipping industry. Not far to the east is the suburb city of North Vancouver.
